People seem to call everyone jealous when they really aren't. Jealousy is one thing. Being territorial is a complete other, although the two can be very similar.
You're crushing on someone, and they go out for a night on the town with their friends. Maybe get into a game of spin the bottle.
That irk you feel in your stomach and chest, and the dislike you're feeling for everyone else playing and being there. That's jealousy.
Jealousy is being defensive and protective of someone - or something - that is not yours.
Being territorial is the same act of being defensive of someone - or something - that is yours. So a boyfriend, girlfriend, wife, finacée, significant other. No you don't own them, but they are yours just as you are theirs.
The feelings are the same, just as the acts are. But because of your stance with them, the term to define them changes.
