Been out of the blogosphere a while. Old spot needed a revamp, so here goes Volume III.

I'll write a little bit here and there; want to try it a weekly thing. I always touch on sports, when what I follow's playing. But there's more to me than just that.

Any curiosities or rants you want to hear? Make sure to drop me a message on Twitter or Facebook!

Lanes of Immaturity

I was driving in to an appointment. On my way I turned on a road I hadn't been on before, as I don't live where my doctor works. Without warning the road went from two lanes to one, and the lane I was in was a forced turn left at a light. The light having JUST turned green I check the lane I needed to be in, and saw there was some space to safely get in as the other cars started to roll forward; I used my momentum to carry me forward, signalled, and came into the lane with much space to spare between the car now behind me.
Lo and behold he slammed on his horn. *rolls eyes* *shakes head*

The Road to SuperBowl L - Week 17

Bring on the Week 17 crazies as this NFL season comes to a close!

Carolina Panthers clinch themselves home field advantage; we can't all say we didn't see that one coming. Only losing one game to date, this season. Yeah that wasn't gonna happen.

Peyton Manning back in the mix for the Denver Broncos. Right on. He was back on the field with about 8:30 left in the 3rd quarter. Was 13-7 Chargers over the Broncos to that point. Game ended with both teams having 20 or more points, and Denver surrendering a 80 yard touchdown.
But in defeating the Chargers, they clinch 1st in the AFC. Why?

Because the New England Patriots dropped the ball again; doubled by the Miami Dolphins, who aren't even in playoff contention. I dunno what to say to that. They've got their first round bye, and clinched the AFC East. But now if the Broncos win through the divisional finals, they'll have the home field advantage for the conference finals. Well done boys.

The Minnesota Viqueens seem to have substantial playoff hopes this season; where they came from, we'll never know. Somehow they managed to walk into Green Bay and beat the Packers to clinch the NFC North division
Are we in the twilight zone?
I may die saying this but... they could be the underdog to watch this year. *shiver*

Off to Wildcard Weekend now; let the SuperBowl L Playoffs begin!

The Road to SuperBowl L - Week 16

Tuned into Thursday Night Football, just after half time.
Watched San Diego drop a 7 point lead to Oakland, mind you the game was kinda boring. Constantly three and out.

But yeah, painfully slow at times. The Raiders defensive line made the game though; between sacking the Charges quarterback for the safety, and the game changing interception that lead them to a 2 point conversion, putting them in range of overtime at the absolute worst.
Game ended in favour of the Raiders in overtime though.

Somehow the Minnesota Viqueens clinch a playoff berth; they've yet to play post season since 2012. Never won a SuperBowl. Who's first round stepping stone will they be?

Arizona Cardinals clinch a first round bye by defeating the Green Bay Packers.

The Carolina Panthers are defeated!!! Whaaaat?! Knocked off their undefeated pedestal by the Atlanta Falcons. Beaten by a touchdown and extra point.

Cincinnati Bengals clinch AFC North division due to the Pittsburgh Steelers loss. They also lose to the Denver Broncos, who came back in overtime, to clinch themselves a playoff berth as well.

And the Kansas City Chiefs slide safely into the post-season picture.

Matt Hasselbeck injured in the first half of the Colts game against the Dolphins.

Washington Redskins clinch NFC East division by defeating the Philadelphia Eagles, to secure their first divisional title since 2012.

And last... but certainly not least. [curses under his breath] How in the hell did the New York Jets defeat the New England Patriots?
Game finished out 26-20, and I still dunno how that happened. That hurts me. Hurts me deep. [gestures to his abdomen] Right here. Wake up boys. You have a SuperBowl to defend.

The Road to SuperBowl L - Week 15

The battle continues; the constant grind to "win the last game of the season." (B Pitt, Moneyball)

Week 15 had some teams show their true colours.

Shit That Needs to Be Said

I wasn't planning to write much more than I have been.
Once a week (Tuesday) during football season; maybe same day during hockey season if I feel so inclined. And then Thursday for whatever else I have on my mind.

But today is a different day.

The Road to SuperBowl L - Week 14

Oh goodness what Week 14 brings; over the bloody moon excitement.

Texting Faux Pas

I was listening to the radio on the way into work. Apparently a study was done that said, "60% of texters will misinterpret proper punctuation" (Ryan & Sophie, Ottawa's New Country 94).

I was raised to use correct punctuation. Proper grammar. In texting I may let it slide ever so slightly on occasion. But I tell everyone I type to show how I would say things in real life. I try to portray my tone and witticism through punctuation and capitalization. Until people actually share a conversation with me, I get it can come across funny and odd.

But tough luck. I won't be changing how I type to unoffend people. People nowadays are offended way too easily, and need to toughen the fuck up.

60% of text messengers feel that ending a message with a period (that little dot people use instead of a question mark sometimes, or don't bother using at all so their thoughts and sentences mesh together) means the sender is mad.
What?

So I guess when I use an ellipse, I'm three times as pissed.

I remember when texts could not be longer than 140 characters; the days when you had to text to your Twitter account because there was no app, and your phone didn't have a colour screen. Those days... I used proper grammar and punctuation.
I take the time to put every character (letter and otherwise) because I care about what and how I write. If people choose to be offended because I'm showing I'm not your average meat head, so be it.

Pity it's Racism

One major issue that keeps coming up throughout North America is the stereotype of Pit Bulls. People have a blind hate on for these four legged companions.

"Pit bull" is not an official breed, it's a mix. (I will refer to it from know on as a "breed.") What any ban of this breed is, is a ban of a body type. Cropped tails and ears. Muscular bodies. Broad chests, heads, and eyes.
Usually how they decide if a dog falls into the category of a "Pit Bull," is they have someone look at it, and if it falls into a percentage of what the "assumed breed" looks like, "Oh shit! It's an EVIL DOG!" Then you can lose your dog, pay a fine, and... did I mention you could lose your dog?

Banning a dog because of an appearance is racism. Yes they aren't human, but they are alive. It would be like banning a specific nationality or religion. Not only that, but doing it for a small a grouping's actions.

NOTE: The whole current Islam issue.
There's only an issue of we make it one; all Islamic people are not terrorists. If they were, they world would be in trouble. Not to single you out, but there are a LOT more of you than there is any other race and religion.

So are we going to ban and put down all those who are, or identify as those of The Nation of Islam? No.
So why do Pit Bulls get the short end of the stick?

Pit Bulls - contrary to popular belief - were not bred for fighting. The body type came through breeding and they were dubbed, "The Nanny Dog." Not because they care for you after they rip you to shreds, or because they eat you and chase you and make you scream for your nanny. But because you were great with children.
Then people noticed the strength the breed had, and built a more dominant dog. A dog that waned to be top of the pack.

You want a dog bred for fighting specifically? Look at German Shepherds as well as Bulldogs!
German military bred, created, and used The Shepherd for war. Why do they stand so long? Because they used to have their hind legs broken as puppies to have them heal that way, so they could be more silent in their approach.

And Bulldogs; why do you think they're named that. They were bred for bull fighting. You know where they poss off the bull, and have the swords and the matador. That's what Bulldogs were bred for.

Dogs also are a victim of their surroundings, breed aside.
If you raise any animal in a place where it's beaten and battered. Made to fight, and win to be fed small scraps... what do you think that dog will want to do. Fight. Because fight mean chance for food, and winning means they get food.

Looking at racial stereotypes - please forgive my bluntness - if you had a black child and a white child. Stereotypically, the black child would be trouble, and the white kid would be good.

But given the chance at the same life; a loving family, food on the table, stable school and neighbourhood. And then, getting your ass beat by a drunken parent, no food unless you steal it, a school and neighbourhood where you're unsafe.

It doesn't matter what colour the kid's skin is. One environment will get you a good kid who has the ability to make something is his (or her) life, and the other will build a scrappy fighter, who'll do what they need to to survive.

In closing... do not single groups out for radical's behaviour. A small percentage of acts does not damn an entire group.
Let's fight together to make people more informed, and stop the ignorant bans against this poor type of dog. They cannot speak for themselves, but when one acts out because of his or her surroundings, it makes the news. Meanwhile all the loving caring gentle pit bulls don't make the news after just loving their family and being treated correctly.

Really... it's a pity we still see racism in the 21st century.

Review: Krampus

A movie based on a Christmas legend, that does tie into Santa Claus. Sounds like... fun? Then you realize it's a Christmas horror. I'm sorry, but a Christmas horror, that is not a slasher human bad guy is so very needed in modern Christmas. No joke.

The Beginning of The End

So I'm back. Been ages since I've blogged online, but I rant about NFL on my Facebook, and have been told I express myself well. So I figure I'll give this a shot! ...again.
