Been out of the blogosphere a while. Old spot needed a revamp, so here goes Volume III.

I'll write a little bit here and there; want to try it a weekly thing. I always touch on sports, when what I follow's playing. But there's more to me than just that.

Review: Pan

I hate doing this, but I want to start off with the negatives. The new Pan film, is a bit too fantastical. I do enjoy a good fantasy film and novel when I pick up a book - no matter how few and far between they may be - but there is a line.

The historic tale of Peter Pan is very fantastical; rife with flying kids, pirates on ships that fly, fairies, a clock eating alligator, and mermaids. But those things can be done in a way that don't make it too childish and immature.

Peter Pan has had many takes done on it before, but I have yet to see one like this. Pan is a prequel to the Peter Pan story we all know and love. This is good as everything before the original - to me at least - has been veiled in mystery. How did he get to Neverland? Why does he not age? How did that rooster crowing, fearless, crazy kid meet Tinkerbell, and learn to fly?

This movie gives us answers to these questions, and so many more brought about by the well known story of Peter Pan. This on top of unlikely friendships, and new enemies.

And just when you think it can tie off the gap, it leaves it open for a sequel to itself, and another prequel to Peter Pan. So yes, it's leading us "second star to the right, and straight on 'til morning."
